When we were looking for options to renew our Project Management Professional® (PMP®) certification with the Project Management Institute® (PMI®) after the three years-cycle neared the end, we realized that the most popular method of earning the 60 Professional Development Units (PDUs) was to subscribe to an annual membership with PMI® at 129 USD/year, i.e. each three-years cycle would cost almost 400 USD. Other training providers offered courses to earn the 60 PDUs, often with an annual fee of ~150 USD/month, ~200 USD/year, ~300 USD/lifetime access. Yet other providers even asked for thousands of dollars, to be paid during each three-years cycle!

Based on this experience, we made time-intensive in-depth research on the cheapest, fastest and easiest way to renew the PMP® and found that earning the 60 PDUs for renewal could be done FREE of charge and that only the renewal fee of 60 USD was compulsory.

After investing so much time of research into this subject, we decided to share our knowledge to a wider audience for 80 USD, which is only ~20% of the fees for a three-year membership for PMI®, and this is a one-time cost, i.e. the same principles, once learned and understood, can be used again and again, without incurring any additional costs.
